Konrad follows her. "Can anyone do that, then?"

"Here, at least have some water." Steve walks over and offers her his waterskin. "Sorry, it's not very cold. If I had a cup I'd just make you some."

"No, that one is mine," she answers Mihai. "And my family's."

She accepts the waterskin and drinks a lot from it. "Thank you," she says while giving it back to Steve. She then looks up at Konrad. "Sure, you can learn to heal yourself. You just need a few years of training at a monastery."

Konrad laughs. "I could have stayed there and learned how to cauterize a wound properly, but alack. No, I was referring to your Shroud-aided 'blinking' technique."

"Oh, that." Her wounds are almost healed now. "If the Shroud ever invites you in, you might learn how to do it."

"If Mihai doesn't mind all the blood, sure," she says with a grin while looking up at the man in question, who's still covered in gore.

Fluffle twitches when he hears the word "blood", but keeps healing his companion.

"You're welcome." Steve takes back the waterskin and has some himself. Fizzing magic is hard work. After a deep drink he sighs in pleasure and reattaches it to his backpack. He's content to listen quietly to the conversation though he looks more and more asleep on his feet as time passes.

Szef Zerva's forehead wrinkles. "Really...? The Avatar didn't mention that."

And like that, I don't have to do a thing, appreciate it, Mihai. Konrad grins to himself.

"I'm beginning to gather you could benefit from this exchange as much as we would."

"Nadia," - he tries to refocus - "that's part of the reason we're being so secretive about our motives. Between us, we have a way to guard against it, for the most part. Normally we'd share it with you, but there's one problem: we can only do it one more time, and may have dire need of it soon."

"You better keep it then," she replies. "But since I'm curious, what does it entail?"

Konrad grins more. That was a really tough fight, wasn't it?

"I think we can trust you. Hell, if you weren't a szef, I'd ask you to tag along with us."

Mihai looks between Konrad and Steve and says - "Eyes open."

Then pulls out the Orb and shows it to her - "You press this thing against your forehead. It goes in. If you're Human, it becomes sort of symbiotic with you, protecting your mind from... well, we don't know all it can do yet, but it does prevent magical brainwashing for one. It can also be dangerous though, so it has to be handled with care. Another reason we're in this mess, is some fuckers backstabbed us, and tried to use these to have us brainwashed. If i hadn't already had my own, there would be someone else in my body right now."

She narrows her eyes and stays silent for a long moment.

"...I don't understand. What do you mean by ‘brainwashing’? And how can this protect you from it but if someone else uses it, it brainwashes you?"

"It's...a kind of wishy-washy magic. It defies magical theory. Hey, you're a monk, right? Just that? No magical training?"

Steve's eyes continue to droop, followed by his head occasionally. He's having trouble focusing.

"I did have magical training," Nadzieja says. "Just not like you were taught."

Mihai sighs - "The longer you wear it, the more attuned it becomes to you. Soaks up your memories until it's got a perfect copy of your entire mind. Eventually, only you can wear it. If you then put it in someone else..." - he trails off slightly - "...you get the picture."

She sighs at Konrad's comment and then listens to Mihai's explanation. She frows her eyebrows the more she hears about the orb's capabilities.

"Are you saying this thing can... store memories?" she asks in disbelief.

"More than just memories, it can store your will. The way we defeated Snicker, was we shoved these into the mind of someone who was possessed. We were there, every bit as real as we are here, and brawled it down in the Host's mind." - He lets it sink in - "That's how powerful these things are, though your approach would have certainly saved us a lot of trouble."
