Act 2: Upheaval VI - Celebration and Departure

"Can do. We'll be back before you guys know it. Later."

8:13 AM, 7th of April 422
The Wharf, Odwaz, Myr

Over the next hour, the adventurers buy food provisions at the Wharf Supply Depot and have the fairies carry them back to the Vulcan. The dockworkers are very impressed by the fairies' display of magical power, and some of them sound even a little jealous. Soon, the adventurers return to the ship, now ready to depart for Emerald.

Brutus and his bodyguards are standing on the forecastle deck to look at the ocean, and several Myrzen warriors are doing the same all over the ship. The fairies having nothing else to do but wait for the order to cast off, they sing a new shanty they've learned while in Odwaz to pass the time.

Shanty:

Amber is at the wheel with Femke and Fluffle, pretending to steer the ship while her minions handle the minor stuff. As for Florolf, he's laying on the deck, basking in a ray of sunlight.

"Intruders boarded the ship, Captain!" Fluffle declares while pointing at the adventurers.

"Femke, throw them overboard!" Amber shouts. "Aaarrrr!"

"..."

The Tyke woman looks back and forth between her young companions and the old men.

"They might be more valuable if we ransom them," she suggests.

"Good idea!"

Konrad laughs and strides toward the wheel. "But how do you know who's valuable? You'll have to tie them up and interrogate the leader." He pats Mihai's back.

"And the man after him..." He pats Steve and continues toward the wheel. "And the man after him," he says directly to Femke, before looking at Amber.

"Well?"

"You are," Femke states, her gaze fixed on Konrad. "You wear the most expensive clothes."

"Femke is never wrong!" Amber says. She then faces Steve and Mihai. "Restrain this man, and I'll let you have 25% of the ransom."

Steve seizes on of Konrad's arms. "I want my part of the ransom to be banana pudding!"

"Pudding it is!" Amber replies.

Konrad winks. "Until you take everything I have. Touching...but wrong."

He "tries" to wrench free and ends up pivoting to the side on the tension of Steve's grasp. "You won't take me alive, you fiends!"

What's she really thinking?

Amber's antics, visibly lighten Mihai up a notch.

"I'll take..." - he trails off. Thinks. - "You know what, just let me fix that antenna."

He walks up to Amber and fixes her bed hair.

Konrad:

Amber's cheeks redden at Mihai's display of brotherly love, but she makes sure to stay in-character. "How dare you touch me!? Fluffle, show him what happens when someone disrespects me."

"Yes, Captain!" the fairy answers. He then uses his magic to blow air at Mihai's head to mess up his hair.

"Good!" She turns toward the front of the ship to address the crew. "Let us cast off!"

Segel, who has been enjoying the show from a distance, looks at Konrad and waits for his permission to cast off. Many other fairies are also hoping that Konrad will let the teenager have her fun.

Konrad chuckles at Mihai. Then, he looks off toward the city of Odwaz: brilliant, fair, and strong. He longs for the day he'll return to her.

He looks up and gives Segel a nod.

Steve let's go and joins Konrad while he looks at the city. So much happened there but still no Breeze or Fedler. He hopes they catch up to them in Emerald.

Mihai restrains himself from hugging his sister, takes a last look at Odwaz, then focuses his gaze to the north.

The fairies swiftly unfasten the ropes and loosen the sails, giving control of the ship to Amber. She firmly grabs the wheel and tentatively turns left while Konrad supervises her. Several longshoremen on the docks wave goodbye at the Vulcan and her crew, which is something they often do for departing vessels.

Just when the wind picks up and blow into the sails, the fairies begin to sing the same shanty they sang when they first left Narrowfist. Amber laughs, exhilarated by the experience of steering a ship away from the land. Fluffle lands on her shoulder and smiles when a soft breeze ruffles his hair. As for Femke, she's taken Florolf in her arms and is petting him on the head.

The Vulcan continues to float away from Odwaz, leaving Myr behind.
