It now follows his lead.
Background:
Ben grew up in Fallcrest alone with his mother. His father made a living as a sellsword and was often unavailable, and his tiefling heritage made it difficult for him to make friends, so he became fond of ditching lessons at the temple in favor of the peace and solitude. While he was out exploring one day, he wandered into the Lower Quay, where he met and started hanging with some street orphans. Lured into a bad crowd at the age of 10, he became a vandal and a thief--a bad thief, it turned out, when he was taken into custody by the Watch for throwing his voice to distract a shopkeeper, and for attempting to steal a candelabra. Livid at the life her 10-year-old was living in absence of a father to guide him, and what the future held if said father remained so, Ben's mother announced that she was pregnant to her husband Bravo and gave him an ultimatum: retire as a mercenary and stay to help the family, or don't come back next time. She would not raise another child alone. Bravo acquiesced and became master-of-arms to the Lord Warden of Fallcrest, while Ben was sent to live with his half-elven uncle, Yorenan, in Harkenwold, to receive the disciplinary training of the Rangers.
He spent the next nine years learning the ways of the Woodsinger Clan and the Harkenwold Rangers, punctuated by the occasional visit home. Ben suffered terrible homesickness for months, but his uncle made it clear that he had responsibilities that he was expected to accomplish if he was to eat--a major culture shock for the city boy from Fallcrest, and one way or the other, Ben came around. It instilled in him discipline and a sense of self worth that he largely lacked while growing up. He and Uncle Yorenan became very close during that time, and the elder considers Hunter, who took that name during his training, one of his best students.
When there was nothing left for Yorenan to teach him, Hunter decided to move back home rather than join the Rangers. He instead joined the Fallcrest Watch, where his skills at tracking and the bow were most welcome. For the first time in his life Hunter was really happy. He had a job he loved, real friends in and out of the Watch, his parents were both proud of him, and he got to spend time with his little brothers--when their father kept them in line, that is. He spent the next three years in the Watch, making Sergeant in one, and being passed over for Captain three times, the final time by a friend he had trained himself with way less experience.

Wondrous Items
The Seladrine's Protector (bracers):
Requirements: Good Alignment (cannot be worn by non-Good)
These bracers and ones like it were worn by the men and women of The Black Arrows, a group of elite eladrin archers. Their finest hour came at the Last Battle of the Spiral Tower, where the Arrows lured the legions of the drow into Ossandrya's Trap, driving the drow out of the Feywild and officially ending the Kinslayer Wars.
While wearing these bracers, you have proficiency with the longbow and the shortbow, and you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks made with such weapons. In addition, the bearer can use a bonus action to cause the bracers to shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet, or to extinguish the light.
Rope of Climbing:
This 60-foot length of silk rope weighs 3 pounds and can hold up to 3,000 pounds. If you hold one end of the rope and use an action to speak the command word, the rope animates. As a bonus action, you can command the other end to move toward a destination you choose. That end moves 10 feet on your turn when you first command it and 10 feet on each of your turns until reaching its destination, up to its maximum length away, or until you tell it to stop. You can also tell the rope to fasten itself securely to an object or to unfasten itself, to knot or unknot itself, or to coil itself for carrying.
If you tell the rope to knot, large knots appear at 1-foot intervals along the rope. While knotted, the rope shortens to a 50-foot length and grants advantage on checks made to climb it.
The rope has AC 20 and 20 hit points. It regains 1 hit point every 5 minutes as long as it has at least 1 hit point. If the rope drops to 0 hit points, it is destroyed.
