The king looks at Thirza and she takes over.

"As I've told you, Edward has worked closely with the Kaplan family and the Chuchoteurs to establish a foothold in Lofell. They will be the tip of his spear in the civil war there, and considering how they came to power in the first place, I doubt they will turn against Edward unless they see Jacob, face to face."

You know Mihai's scars? Once upon a time, the Bêtes de la 9ème Rue captured a boy and worked him over real bad. Jean Toussaint - Malik - used the outrage from that insult and started a war that ended up giving the Chuchoteurs total control of Villevielle.

Of course, no one knew that it was Malik that set Mihai up to be burned in the first place. Will be an interesting reunion, to say the least.

Well, Sir, Mihai doesn't blame you. The way he sees it, Edward's been this ruthless for a good long while now. He's just been really good at hiding it. That, or him and Malik really do think alike.

Tibur's expression softens when Samantha speaks about her husband, and for a moment, he looks down at the table.

Samantha stares at Nick for a moment, then relents, but her willful expression remains plastered on her face.

I promised her that I wouldn't kill him. I'm sorry, nothing would please me more than to lock him in a building and set it on fire, or whatever you might have planned. But it was her ultimatum.

The king nods and says, "I'll be awaiting news of your success."

He and Thirza nod at the squad members, and without thinking, Samantha naturally responds with an imperial salute. In the next moment, she sees Felix Tibur not as a young man, but as the old emperor who typically wore a blue toga and a white tunic of silk. A few seconds pass, and the vision is gone. The wrinkled face is replaced by the youthful king of Emerald, who's smiling at the moment.

"Good luck, everyone."

Samantha blinks a few times and smiles again, this time more genuine, as if Felix Tibur was a dear old friend.
