Act 2: Upheaval I - The Werewolf

Femke peers at Konrad and her expression softens.

"I'm sorry, but I am forbidden to interfere in human matters."

She lowers her head apologetically.

"Rest, then. We'll be back." - he reassures, but can't help but look at Amber

Cannot interfere in human matters? And you are here doing what, exactly? But Konrad stows it. "The rules you must needs obey. If we return any sooner than first light, we will come with the bloody head of the beast."

He turns to Amber. "You've seen what it can do, but do not worry. I have every confidence that having the numbers on our side, backed by quality mettle, will ensure we prevail in an encounter with our quarry."

"......"

"Understood," Femke replies.

When the red mage speaks to Amber, she gazes at him, perplexed.

"I wasn't worried. That mad dog will die for sure."

Fluffle, having left his hiding place some time ago, is now sitting on the Tyke's head, feeling the texture of her new hat with his hands. She doesn't seem to mind.

"Oh good. Now wait here for a minute, I should be dressed properly if I am to face dangerous prey."

He heads to his cabin to retrieve his armor.

"Amber, can you come over here for a minute?"

Steve will give the two some space so they can talk. He'll make small talk with Femke and Fluffle to pass the time.

Before Steve can leave the two siblings alone, Amber lets out a sigh of frustration.

"I know, I know! I can't go with you on the hunt." She crosses her arms and grumbles. "I'll just wait here."

Femke is unfazed by the teenager's reaction. Fluffle observes the scene and waits for Mihai's response.

Mihai scratches his head - "Uh... sure. Talk later then."

An incredulous Steve says, "Amber, is that really the last thing you want to say to your brother?"

"Steve..." - he admonishes

The lass frowns a little more and keeps her mouth tight-lipped. That doesn't last long however; after a short moment of consideration, she sighs and unfolds her arms.

"Be careful," she tells the party. "And don't get lost again."

Mihai is slightly at a loss - "Uh... yeah. Don't worry."

"We'll be careful. You guys keep an eye out too. Our questions may have drawn the attention of persons unknown. They may not have liked that."

"I will stay vigilant," Femke replies.

"We'll beat them up if they try anything," Amber adds.

Konrad comes back a few minutes later with his armor on. Fluffle hides in Steve's pocket and the party sets out for the Den.

OOC:

Konrad points out convenient landmarks while they are out memorizing the winding maze of buildings that comprises the Den.

Mihai nods at the girls and departs.

Mihai will do recon on the Den's streets, taking special note of ambush spots, choke points, twists and turns with poor visibility, nooks and crannies, dark alleys, rooftops that look ideal for a drop-down plunging attack, the whole shebang.

INT - 22

Steve will attempt to memorize the streets in his own way, mentally renaming things after landmarks he's noting.

Steve feels like he's now able to find his way around the Den if he's given enough time, but it'd be easy for him to get lost in its labyrinthine streets if he tries to chase the werewolf there.

Mihai and Konrad believe that they now have a good grasp of the district's layout. The alleyways might cause some problems however, as there are too many of them for them to explore in the short time they have left.

It is now a little over 6:30 PM.

Mihai sighs - "No choice. Gotta get to the Arena and smile at the fucker trying to wipe out humanity."

Steve falls in to walk to the Arena. "Maybe the monsters will kill each other."

6:43 PM, 4th of April 422
Odwaz, Myr

The adventurers leave the Den and arrive on a large plaza. Droves of tourists have come from far and wide to admire one of the last landmarks of the Old Empire – the Arena. Built from a type of limestone that gives it a yellowish hue, this circular monument still stands five centuries after its construction.

From this distance, the party can tell that one of the main entrance is guarded by two heavily armed soldiers.

"Wow..." It's Fluffle, his head sticking out from Steve's pocket.

The Arena:

Mihai observes it for a while, then - "On the bright side, it can't pull a Fire Bitch in there, under the eyes of everyone attending."
