| Amber takes the wand and shakes it around everywhere, hoping to freak out one of the party members. She quickly stops and puts it in one of her pockets.
"Sounds good then," Mina replies.
"We'll wait in the office then," Brett (Mace) adds.
Mina then turns towards Mihai and Steve. "We'd rather avoid the Coins for now. We'll lay low in Narrowfist and find a ship that will take us somewhere they don't have much presence. Maybe Lorinth. If you manage to take down Reeves..." She considers the possibility. "Maybe we'll go back to working with the Coins." |

| Konrad attempts to reach once for the wand to stop her from shaking it around. "Not now, you dunderhead."
"We'll pass it along. Until then, we will be glad for your company." Konrad lingers on Mina at the end of that statement, and leaves for the showers.
Diplomacy 27 Konrad is showing her that he is interested, and hoping to charm her.

| After a nice shower and removal of oil and water that goes on for a good 15 minutes, Konrad puts his effects back on with the exception of the breastplate, which is replaced by the mail. Then he helps his friends haul gear onto the ship, and sits down to forge and forge transcripts of the letters found, which takes every ounce of his focus to give it 110%. Forgery 27 (Take 20)forging both letters. He also takes time to write a letter to a personal friend. - Letter to Aemilia:
Dear Aemy,
I hope the winter has been gentle to you. My adjunct celebrated the solstice in each other's company, with friends in the Free Army. Fedler and Yennefer were allowed to see each other and celebrated their birthdays together. Zelk went first when we gave gifts, and she gave her an Nighteye. I approve, she'll be prepared for a life of travel at sea. Mihai bought the little one a doll, a sentimental and practical toy, and he also gave the sweetheart a hairpin. Fedler gave Yen a board game called Lords of Firepool or somesuch. I found it to be quite enjoyable, we played it after we ate. Steve wrote a song for her, incorporating everything he learned from his teacher Fedler. It was quite stirring and bittersweet. Velstar gave Yen a small light globe to practice control of magic. I gave her something to remind her of home, and Fedler a model of her home in Waterglass. Breeze gave both of them matching scarves. We had a wonderful time together.
He puts the pen down and muses over his writing. "We did, didn't we?"
I don't know what you have heard about us, but I write to you with concern for the stories now being told, and I assure you my friends and I would never turn to piracy. Pay no mind to those stories. If you must know more, trust Zelk Freeron to tell you all she can, and who may tell you more.
Be well, Konrad
With the forgeries and letter done, he's ready to go back to the warehouse with Mihai. |

| Mihai finally takes a moment to write down his report to Sonlake. - Revised Letter:
Sonlake, please forward this message to Commander Blackcliff with all haste.
Refer to the two attached letters for context (these are transcribed as faithfully as possible, we're keeping the originals for reasons explained below).
At the completion of our job, Edwin Reeves ambushed us. Our contact for the offloading – Stefan (Name unknown), who met us at the warehouse - seemed to be unaware of the trap until it was sprung, but afterward followed Edward's orders regardless.
Edward had us stunned and bound, then used foreign Orbs on us while we were unconscious. We've already experienced memory flashes, the nature of which i'll not discuss in writing. Our will is still our own for now, but we're not sure how long it'll last. Fedler wasn't so fortunate, and someone named Anne has taken hold of her. Breeze has also been captured and restrained.
Anne was reluctant to follow Edward, at which he claimed Jacob was dead, the Enemy is on the move, and they have to strike first.
They sailed from Narrowfist on the Barracuda, between the 29th and 30th of March – sometime yesterday. We are currently heading to intercept them at the site mentioned in the first attached message.
We believe Anne may be swayed away from him if she's shown the concerning letter, which is why we're keeping it. We suspect her true identity and abilities, for which we're trying to prepare however we're able. For the moment, Fedler is still resisting, and we're hoping to catch up before Anne can use her skills to their full extent, then recover Breeze and remove the Orbs.
Any effort to contact us should be forwarded to the Coins office at our destination (please address it to Siro Monel, as we have no way of knowing what Edward will do to hinder us upon arrival). We will try to reach and check for it whenever possible.
One last request - and this could really end up being just that - if the worst happens, please ensure Yen and Amber are taken care of. And please inform Zelk Freeron of what happened to Steve. For obvious reasons, he can't put that burden on her via letter right now. Yes, we know it's breaking the secret you've been keeping. And if we die keeping it, you'll still owe us that.
Steve Oldturn, Konrad Granger, Mihai Lowick - 113th Adjunct Coins, Free Feathers Division
Mihai will then seal the letter, carve 113 into the wax and address it to Director Sonlake Dermold, Coins Highwind Division head office, Free Feathers, marked URGENT. He will then get cleaned up, get the smell of oil off his clothes (ask one of the weavers to take care of that for him), raid the warehouse, raid the armory, and get ready to leave. (He will load an additional complement of ranged weapons and lanterns onto the ship, enough for the entire crew (around 30), if possible) |

| Steve takes 10 scale mails on the idea they can sell them to fund this impromptu mission. Hopefully that will be enough. He also composes the following letter. - Spoiler:
First letter
Dear Zelk, I miss you lots but I have terrible news. Edwin Reeves, the head of the Coins, ambushed us in Narrowfist, put foreign orbs into our heads, and kidnapped Breeze and Fedler (now Anne). We remain ourselves for now and are determined to save ourselves and our friends. Please stay safe. I'll do my best to contact you again.
Love, Steve.
Second Letter
Dear Zelk, Miss you lots. Last mission went all wrong! Fedler and Breeze kidnapped but we found a boat and a Bag of Holding! It's the best, like seriously! The inside looks like the night sky and Mihai put a sword inside and it's floating there in space! I tried a few other things and somehow they aren't crashing together, they just float there in a nice orderly fashion. Wish you were here so I could show you!
Love, Steve
PS. Going after Fedler and Breeze. Don't worry, we'll rescue them!
(there are doodles of Zelk and Steve getting married as well as a crude drawing of Edwin as a fire breathing Snicker Dragon)

| 1:49 PM, 30th of March 422 Hidden base, EnclaveMina orders Adrius to stay behind and take the carriage and horses back to town while she and the rest of her group help the party get the cargo on board the Vulcan. It takes the two adjuncts a hour and a half to get all the cargo on board and finish all of their side activities. Then another half hour for Konrad to instruct everyone how to sail somewhat efficiently. The end result is below average at best, but since the party only needs to get to Narrowfist, Konrad judges that their effort should be enough. The only remaining problem is how to get the ship out of this cavern when there's no wind or wave. Luckily, the party finds a woven device which Mina identifies as some sort of engine connected to a propeller. She surmises that when powered with magic, it would create enough propulsion for the ship to move forward; she offers to do that. The speed at which the Vulcan drifts away from the dock is dreadfully slow, but soon enough, the ship passes through the large crevice and enters the sea. They leave the large cliffs behind and head south, towards Narrowfist. ____________ 6:07 PM, 30th of March 422 Narrowfist, EnclaveThe sun has begun to set, but there's one good hour of daylight left. Narrowfist comes into view, and Konrad is concerned about one thing right now; how to successfully dock the ship with the makeshift crew he has. The good news; there are no ships moored at the harbor, so the Vulcan won't ruin someone's else day. The bad news? They can still crash against the waterfront. The red mage notices someone on the docks signaling him where to moor his ship. - Vulcan crew:
I'll be generous and assume Konrad has thought of training the two adjuncts for this event, so you all get a +5 to your rolls. Mihai gets his temporary +1 bonus on top of that.
Konrad, roll Charisma and your profession skill.
Everyone else, roll Dexterity.

| Being his first time teaching many people at once, and being focused on the destination and the goal more than the journey, Konrad gets upset and frustrated with every mistake. "No, wrong! Haven't you been on a ship before? Like this!" When they're on the water, it still comes through in his commands.
As they near the harbor, he yells out, "Roll up the sails, now! Steady and do exactly as I say!" |

| As the Vulcan makes its approach, Konrad can see the man on the docks wince.
The ship is a little too fast, and the newly designated captain knows that everything else depends on him. With his expertise at the wheel, he manages to avoid a direct collision with the waterfront, but he can still hear the abrasive sound of the stone grazing against the hull. Furthermore, the ship is still drifting forward. He now needs to order his crew mates to throw the ropes at the dockworker so he can secure the ship to a mooring and stop it from moving.
Brett and Steve attempt to do just that, but they collide with each other and fall to the ground. Mihai is quick enough on his feet to grab the correct rope and throw it at the dockworker.
The Vulcan has now docked to Narrowfist.
Mina, Brett and Hanns all sit down to unwind. Meanwhile, the party notices that besides the dockworker stands an elderly woman with a clipboard in her left hand and a pencil in the other. She's tapping her feet and staring directly at Konrad. |

| Konrad seizes on the task of lowering the gangplank himself, lest the others nearly mess that up as well, and he steps confidently across it to the dock. "Captain Konrad Granger of the Vulcan. These are my associates." |

| "At least you didn't damage the waterfront," the old clerk says as she puts her pencil down on the clipboard. Indeed, it seems the hull of the ship suffered only a superficial grazing. "Where did you depart from, who are you affiliated with, what is the purpose of your visit and how long are you planning to stay?"
The dockworker stays by the woman's side just in case there's something that needs to be done. Meanwhile, an embarrassed Amber tells Mihai, "I'm fine! Geez..."
Brett responds to Steve's comment with a smile. "Oh, that was a close one."
Florolf is sitting on the rail of the ship and looks over the scene with placid interest. |

| "A little closer than I would have liked, yeah." The black mage laughs. "At least we made it with no injuries. Come on." He makes his way over to the gangplank so he can join the others as they leave the ship. |

"It's five gold for a day," she states while extending her hand towards Konrad.

| "Quite sure," Mina answers with a sad smile. "The three of you weren't what we expected at all." Her expression then softens. "...I hope you can save your friends."
"Give 'em hell," Hanns says with a grin.
"And you try not to get jumped again, okay?" Amber replies, amused.
"Uh yeah, we will." Brett is still a little scared of that young woman. ____________
The clerk stares at the piece of gold, and then Konrad.
"There are three taverns in this town; the Itchy Gazelle, the Dire Fish Bar and the Mellow Pie." She then gives the red mage the directions of these fine establishments. "However, I haven't heard anything about a competent crew looking for work."
"What about the fairies?" the dockworker suggests with a strong Mishmash accent.
The old woman scoffs.
"There's a bunch of them that appeared a few weeks ago," the man continues. "Say they're good sailors." |
