6th Interlude: Happy Memories

Steve perks up. "Oh, cool. I wonder what they are gonna sing?"

"They always give their best, so I'm sure whatever it is will blow our socks off."

"Right into space."

Nick looks tenderly at Anne as she finishes her vows. Once it's done, Jacob speaks up once more to bring this ceremony to an end.

"Nick Bradshaw, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

"Anne Wood, do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

Anne smile as she gives her answer. "I do."

Jacob turns to the rest of the crowd and asks, "The rings, please?"

May steps forward and presents the rings to the couple on small pillow before stepping back into line with the other bridesmaids.

Anne takes the other ring and does the same for Nick. Once it's done, Jacob rises a little higher in the air and says, "By virtue of the authority vested in me under the laws of ultimate friendship, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Anne wraps her arms around his shoulders and kisses him back. At the same time, the people in the audience stand up and begin cheering for the newlyweds. The fairies go a step further however and decide to fly around the couple, laughing and casting colorful balls of light all around them.

At the same time, Jasmine turns around and heads towards the entrance to the mansion. Once she reaches the door, she looks at the adventurers and waits for them to follow her.

Konrad raises his eyebrow. "Wait, what about the song? Changed your mind?"

Jasmine points at the door. "It's here."

Out of the blue, the adventurers begin to hear the faint sound of people singing coming from inside the mansion.

Konrad looks as though a light flickered on inside his head, and follows Jasmine.

Steve follows the others, his excitement putting a bit of a hop into his step.

Once the adventurers step inside, they see that all of the ex-ISA agents, their allies, friends and families have gathered around a long table garnished with dozens of plates of food, a multitude of beverages, and traditional pastries from all across the isles. The couple of the hour is of course sitting at the head of the table, with their friends and families close to them and the rest of the guests at the other end. Technically, that's also where the fairies have been seated, but they instead have decided to fly all over the table, picking at whatever meal struck their fancy at any particular moment and causing delectable chaos everywhere.

In fact, Gab is throwing peas at May at the moment, being supplied with ammunition by none other than Teddy. A couple of other fairies are drinking an aged wine right in front of Smirk, while another is singing a song about mashed potatoes to Triston.

Very important stuff.

Konrad starts to salivate at the sight of the veritable buffet of catering.

Evrard is eating and making jokes, trying to break the ice and make Bernice laugh. Samantha tells an anecdote and sneaks some food while the fairies keep Triston entertained.

May is catching the peas in her mouth, no matter where Gab throws them or how fast, much to the amusement of the other guests, including Steve and Rémi.

When the fairies start chanting her name Steve totally joins in.

Evrard notices that Bernice is having a surprisingly good time, even though he's uprooted her from her home. This is a definitive improvement compared to when he told her she needed to leave their place. As for Anne, she reaches under the table to grab Nick's hand and smiles at him before turning her attention back to her mother.

"So, when are we getting our first grandchild?" the woman asks Nick.

Meanwhile, Gab laughs at May's impregnable defense and she decides to step it up a notch by grabbing a glazed cinnamon roll instead of another pea.

"Oh oh," Theodore says.

"Try to grab this!" Gab exclaims.

The pastry goes high in the air, nearly touching the ceiling.

Unfazed by the commotion, Mihai attempts to grab a sausage wrapped in bacon and surprises himself when he successfully picks it up.

Evrard is very glad. At this point he says that he'll improve his own gear using magic, and opens the floor for requests just as a rogue cinnamon bun sails over the table.

Sam takes notice as well. "Whoa!"

May watches the huge cinnamon roll tumble through the air, quietly judging the arc it will take as it comes tumbling down. She slips out her heels while she waits for it to fall, timing her standing jump so that she catches it in her mouth midair over the table, before flipping and landing gracefully on her feet to gasps and cheers from her audience. She rips out a huge bite from the roll before taking a bow and holding it up in triumph.

Now Konrad notices Mihai putting something in his mouth. "Wait, we can eat?" He goes over to the dining table and picks up a buttered roll and takes a bite.
